70-year mark and outstanding achievements in 2025
At the conference, the Executive Committee reviewed special historical milestones. The Association successfully organized the 70th Anniversary Celebration (1955 – 2025). On this occasion, the collective was honored to receive the First-class Labor Order. This is a noble recognition by the Party and State for the Association’s contributions. All members have persistently strived for the cause of people’s health care.
Organizational consolidation and streamlining the apparatus
Regarding organizational work, the Association strictly implemented the streamlining of the apparatus. This activity closely followed the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW. At the Association Office, the number of Departments has been reduced from 10 to 8. This aims to optimize actual operational efficiency.
As of July 2025, the Association manages and coordinates the activities of 92 Member Associations. The merger of local associations is considered a strategic step. Units such as An Giang – Kien Giang or Bac Ninh – Bac Giang have completed the merger. This helps focus resources and strengthen regional linkages.

Role of policy consultation and critical review
In his directive speech, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan affirmed the role of the Association. The unit has well promoted its position as a “solid bridge” between intellectuals and management agencies. Over the past year, the Association has contributed profound opinions to many important draft laws.
Typical documents include: Law on Medical Examination and Treatment (amended); Law on Health Insurance; draft Law on Population. These contributions are highly appreciated for their professional nature. The feedback content closely follows clinical practice. This helps protect the rights of both medical staff and patients.
Enhancing professional capacity and training
The conference acknowledged the success of the 2025 Annual Scientific Conference. The program had the theme “Research and application in medicine”. In addition, the Association organized 13 international conferences and 12 specialized seminars. The Vietnam Medical Journal continued to affirm its reputation with a publication frequency of 2-3 issues per month.
Particularly, the Center for Support & Continuing Education has been granted training code B57-02. This is the basis for effectively implementing CME training classes. Topics focus on non-communicable diseases and musculoskeletal management. This activity has been widely implemented in many localities nationwide.
Direction of key tasks for 2026
The Executive Committee agreed on key tasks for 2026. The goals aim to continue enhancing the Association’s reputation in the new period:
Organizational work: The Association continues to review and arrange for Member Associations to operate substantially. The unit strengthens periodic inspection and supervision. At the same time, departments actively prepare documents to organize the Congress of the Vietnam Medical Association for the 2026 – 2030 term.
Communication and medical ethics: Coordinate closely with the Ministry of Health to propagate medical ethics and professionalism. Communication work focuses on the prevention and control of infectious diseases. Non-communicable diseases are also a focus of health education campaigns.
Consultation and critical review: Proactively contribute ideas to build legal documents for the Health sector. The Association participates in supervising law implementation at facilities. A key task is supervising the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms.
Research and training: Promote the application of artificial intelligence and precision medicine. Organize scientific conferences and continuing education courses. The goal is to update advanced medical knowledge for the team of doctors.
International cooperation: Continue to participate deeply in regional and world medical organizations. This activity helps Vietnamese medical intellectuals access the essence of modern medicine.
The 2025 conference closed with high consensus among delegates. Despite challenges regarding funding and personnel, the Association maintains its determination. The Vietnam Medical Association is committed to excellently fulfilling its mission. The unit continues to reach out, deserving to be the largest socio-professional organization in the Health sector.
