Along with the development flow of the Vietnam Medical Association marking its 70th anniversary milestone, the Center for Support & Continuing Education has made outstanding strides in legal status, organization, and operational scale. At the 2025 Conference of the Standing Committee – Executive Committee of the Vietnam Medical Association, the Center affirmed its core role in the cause of enhancing capacity for medical doctors and staff nationwide.

Breakthrough imprints in organizational work in 2025

In the past year, under the close direction of the Association’s Leaders, the Center has completed important legal procedures, creating a solid premise for the new development phase. Typical achievements include:

  • Organizational consolidation of the Center: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Khan – Former Director of the Center, now holds the position of Chairman of the Center’s Scientific and Training Council. Dr. Truong Hong Son – Former Deputy Director of the Center, was appointed by the Vietnam Medical Association as Director of the Center from April 8, 2025.
  • The Center has registered for Science and Technology activity certification (Ministry of Science and Technology): No. A2851 dated October 6, 2025.
  • Improved facilities, moved location to 12 Hoang Cau, O Cho Dua Ward, Hanoi.
  • Organized meetings of the Advisory Council (Chairman: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Xuyen and leaders of the Vietnam Medical Association) and the Scientific – Training Council (Chairman: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Khan and experts from many specialties), unifying the operational direction for the 2025-2026 period.
  • Planned, developed, and implemented training programs serving the Center’s continuing education activities.

Besides organizational consolidation, the Center successfully coordinated CME training courses on non-communicable diseases in highland provinces such as Lang Son and Cao Bang, directly supporting grassroots medical staff. Additionally, the scientific seminar on musculoskeletal disease management also created a great resonance in the professional community.

Direction of key tasks for 2026

Promoting the achieved results, entering 2026, the Center defines the goal of becoming a core unit in updating medical knowledge and practicing medical ethics. Key tasks include:

1. Expanding training programs. Continue to implement training courses on medical ethics, medical professionalism, and medical incident handling skills for medical staff in many localities according to the approved plan.

2. Diversifying training topics. Coordinate closely with Departments and Administrations under the Ministry of Health and Specialized Associations to organize in-depth consultation sessions and training to update clinical medical knowledge.

3. Digitizing training work. Strengthen the application of information technology, deploy online classes. Aiming to create conditions for members in remote and isolated areas to access official knowledge sources.

4. International training cooperation. Promote coordination with foreign partners, typically the Takeda Scholarship Foundation (Japan). Thereby reviewing and sending medical staff for internship and study abroad.

With the above solid foundation, the Center commits to constantly innovating and improving training quality. Thereby, contributing to the general development of the Vietnamese health sector. Additionally, the strong development of the Vietnam Medical Association.
