Guidelines for Updating Medical Technology Advancements, Vaccines, and Epidemic Prevention

In order to continuously update medical knowledge and scientific-technical advancements in medical examination and treatment, the Center for Support and Continuing Education presents the weekly highlight of medical news. This information is aligned with the orientations and professional guidelines of the Ministry of Health for effective application in clinical practice and preventive medicine.

Breakthrough in Cancer Treatment with Proton Radiotherapy Super Machine

Vietnam’s healthcare sector has just recorded a historic milestone by ordering a modern radiotherapy system worth nearly 2,000 billion VND, considered the first of its kind in Asia. This is the most advanced proton beam therapy technology, capable of destroying tumors with absolute precision while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. The application of this high technology is completely in line with the orientation to improve the quality of oncology treatment according to Decision No. 1514/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health on promulgating the Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Certain Cancers, opening up survival opportunities for many patients with complex cases.

The Potential of the New Generation Universal Nasal Spray Vaccine

A remarkable achievement in the field of immunology recently announced is the development of a universal nasal spray vaccine. With just a single dose administered through the respiratory mucosa, this vaccine demonstrates the ability to protect the body against a series of pathogens such as COVID-19, seasonal flu, pneumonia, and even allergic reactions. The mechanism of localized mucosal immunity helps block pathogens right at the entry portal. Preventive health facilities must continue to monitor the licensing progress of this vaccine, while strictly complying with Circular 34/2018/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health detailing immunization activities and vaccine preservation once the product is circulated.

Bringing Germany’s Modern High-Capacity Vaccine Production Line to Vietnam

To ensure supply autonomy and health security, Vietnam has partnered to bring the most modern, high-capacity vaccine production line from the Federal Republic of Germany to the country. This event is a clear demonstration of the realization of Decision No. 1165/QD-TTg approving the National Strategy for the Development of Vietnam’s Pharmaceutical Industry. Mastering international standard vaccine production technology under the strict supervision of the Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) will help our country proactively cope with future pandemics and reduce product costs for the people.

Accelerating the Deployment of Electronic Health Records Integrated with VNeID

In the digital health transformation efforts this past week, the synchronization of medical examination and treatment data onto the VNeID application continues to be accelerated at central and local hospitals. Patients seeking medical care no longer need to carry physical documents, and doctors can quickly look up their medical history. This activity is deployed synchronously based on Decision No. 1332/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health on promulgating the Electronic Health Record for integration on the VNeID application, contributing to information transparency and enhancing clinical diagnosis efficiency.

Enhancing Surveillance and Treatment of Infectious Diseases During Seasonal Transitions

Facing the erratic weather changes early in the year, the risk of outbreaks of respiratory and mosquito-borne diseases such as Influenza A and Dengue fever is increasing. The General Department of Preventive Medicine requests that healthcare facilities absolutely not be complacent. Hospitals need to review treatment protocols, organize patient triage, and prepare medical supplies in strict accordance with Decision No. 3705/QD-BYT on Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and Decision No. 330/QD-BYT on Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Seasonal Influenza to minimize severe complications.
