Review the Food Safety Law
The Government has just issued a Resolution (effective from April 6, 2026), temporarily suspending the application of Decree 46/2026/ND-CP and Resolution 66.13/2026/NQ-CP until the Food Safety Law (amended) comes into effect. Ministries, sectors, and localities are tasked with reviewing laws, enhancing inspections, and conducting unannounced checks on food production and business establishments. The focus of the review is to prevent counterfeit goods, commercial fraud, and food poisoning at collective kitchens, schools, and street food vendors.
Promoting rabies prevention in the community
Rabies is a dangerous infectious disease, transmitted mainly through the bites or licks of infected animals (97% transmitted from dogs), and has an almost absolute mortality rate once symptoms appear. Given the complex developments and the record of a suspected rabies-related death, the local authorities of Kim Phu commune (Quang Tri province) have urgently reviewed and deployed vaccinations. To date, the locality has completed rabies vaccinations for nearly 100% of dogs and cats, combining this with raising public awareness to prevent the disease right from the grassroots level.
Investigating a suspected food poisoning case in HCMC
From noon on April 8, 116 students of Binh Quoi Tay Primary School (HCMC) recorded abnormal health symptoms. Many medical facilities in the area, including Gia Dinh People’s Hospital, have admitted dozens of pediatric patients with symptoms of fever, abdominal pain, and vomiting. The HCMC Food Safety Authority is urgently coordinating to investigate the cause of the incident while requesting the school to temporarily suspend its boarding activities to ensure student safety.
